Synopsis
This is the trailer ('Band Annonce’) for the 21st Angers Film Festival 2009, an annual festival of directors' first films.
Adéle is the only actress in the promo film, so it must have been quite an honour, as she was just starting out at this stage of her career. She was 19 years old.
In 2007 Naissance des Pieuvres has been released to acclaim and Adèle had been nominated for a 2008 Best New Actress ('Best New Hope') César Award. This promotional film was, presumably, made in late 2008 for the January 2009 Film Festival. So, Adèle had had a fabulous year—she was still a student at this stage, she had been in a successful feature film that was shown at the Cannes Film Festival, she had been nominated for her nation's top award for a young actress, and was then chosen to be the face of a major film festival.

[On a less upbeat note, though, during this period Adèle was also dealing with the trauma and angst brought on by the harassment and abuse she had experienced as an adolescent. I recently re-watched Adèle's Mediapart interview. If you haven't seen it in full I strongly recommend it to you. My respect for and admiration of this woman is immense.]

The Premiers plans d'Angers Festival is an annual film festival held over ten days each January in Angers (Maine-et-Loire), France. It has been held since 1989.
The festival is dedicated to European ‘first films’, with more than one hundred European first films in competition. The first films by young directors are thus given exposure.
Parallel to the competition, great works of the cinematographic heritage are explored through tributes, retrospectives, & meetings that are also part of the festival.
- It is a BAFTA qualifying festival.
- In 2020 Céline Sciamma presented at the Festival.
Jeanne Moreau, who gave Céline & the actresses from Naissance des Pieuvres her Honorary César at the 2008 César Awards, was a great supporter of this Festival and in particular its workshops for young filmmakers.

| I get the impression that Adèle is a 'sensible shoes' kinda woman. She wears the high ones as part of a costume—on screen or at events—but she gives the impression she prefers more practical footwear. |
