About the César Révélations

This is the promo film for France’s best young actresses and actors, as selected by the Révélation Committee of l’Académe des César.

Each year, the César’s Academy's Governing Board and the Révélations Committee (made up of casting directors working in French film productions) offers a list of a maximum of 16 young actresses ("Révélations des César") to facilitate the voting for the "Most Promising Actress "award (César du Meilleur Espoir Feminine). Since 2007, all young actresses who have worked on French feature-length films or primarily French-language productions are eligible for the list. However, beginning from 2013, an actress cannot qualify for the list more than twice. The "Revelations" are also featured in a short film directed by an artist appointed by the Academy yearly. The short film, unveiled at a gala dinner that is organized in honour of the Révélations, is also screened at select cinemas in France.

The Evening

The Academy organizes an evening in January each year in honor of the Révélations, the opportunity to unveil the Revelations Project, in a photo exhibition.
During this evening, each Revelation is accompanied by an illustrious Godfather or Godmother whom they have chosen.

Adéle chose Céline Sciamma as her sponsor ('godmother') for this event.

The Revelations

“Among the actresses and actors who made the cinema of the year, who are those who will make the cinema of tomorrow?

To facilitate the vote of the members of the Academy, the Revelation Committee chooses each year several young actresses, who appeared to them to be particularly remarkable: Revelations.
To highlight them, and through them all the young actresses of French cinema, the Academy is organizing the Révélations Project.”

The Committee

The Révélation Committee offers, as an indication, and in collaboration with the Academy's Board of Directors, a list of young actresses and actors chosen from among all the performers of French cinematographic production released in theaters in 2007, in order to '' draw the attention of the members of the Academy to these young performers.
This committee is made up of 18 casting directors active in French film production. It is validated each year by the Bureau of the Academy.”

Christel Baras was on the Révélation Committee for 2012, as in 2008 when Adèle was also selected for this honour. From 2013 a rule was put in place that a person could only be selected as a Revelation no more than twice.
